Hobbies Are a Form of Spirituality

Do you have any hobbies? Most folks don’t these days as they spend most of their time staring at a screen. See, back when, everyone had something they enjoyed doing. It could range from stamp collection to watching birds or even discovering the abstract meanings and etymologies of words. Whatever it was, you did it with a passion because it lit a lamp within that made you feel timeless as it kicked. Some painted tiny models with details so intricate. Others had mastered the tricks of observing animals in their natural climate. This one was actually quite impressive as the dude could feed random squirrels in your garden and they came up to him like friends with a “Hey, what it is?” mindset. Did you know that crows remember faces so if you did them ill they’ll peck your bill but if you and them are cool they’ll look out for you? Isn’t that fascinating? This is why I’ve said that hobbies are a form of spirituality as they ignite the passion and strength of single pointed focus and dedication which you can then use to elevate your practice. Dig:

I really wish I could meditate. My mind goes a million miles a second and I hate it” he said. I replied that meditation is a complete waste of effort and how we, as Warriors, Journey instead.

“What does that mean then? How do I do it?” he questioned.

“Its simple. You know how you’re super into the whole CB radio thing and are constantly tinkering and soldering?”. He nodded his head. “Thats the same state of single pointed focus you’ve been chasing in meditation. To Journey we simply get there, using any method, then make that shift from the external locus of focus and flip it to within your consciousness”. To say a literal straight line in Tetris did sink and obliterate the obstacle of his ignorance was an understatement as he verily did sprint out of my drop in to put this thought into practice as he did the Knowledge. He came back and said:

“Ah man, that is genius! Genius, it is! So, what I did was go home and get back to this old rig I’d been fixing and when I got to the point where I was totally zoning then I put down the tools, closed my eyes and leaned back instead whilst keeping that wavelength. That was so, so amazing. Its just like you said by using the outer to train within then turning round your senses and comprehending what comprehends. So awesome!”.

That was it. He was in and now had his own gnosis which lead to further explorations and conversations as he’d initially been drawn in when I said the body is a transceiver of consciousness and doesn’t create a thing beyond modulation. This was speaking his language and he was intrigued but, being independent, he went to library and got some tapes on meditation but found they didn’t do a thing beyond irritate him as he listened. This is why I’ve said that hobbies are, in many ways, the training wheels for spiritual liberation as it takes something familiar and flips it to another octave that can allow you to explore your own consciousness. A massage therapist used this to immense effect by getting out of her head and the techniques they’d impressed and, instead, becoming totally intuitive. I’ll let her tell it:

“At first it was quite difficult to let go and just trust the wisdom but then something so strange happened. I had a regular in and I told her that I wanted to try something else beyond the usual easing of tension and so I was doing my standard body test to see where needed what and when and I felt something within me direct my attention to a specific area, lumbar. I literally spent most of the entire session just working on this tiny little bit and when it came to an end she couldn’t get off the bed as she was totally blissed out and in an altered state of consciousness. I asked her what happened and she said that it felt like her entire body had become just the sacral region and then all of her awareness filled this and she felt like she was being swept along within these currents. She described it like a dream in which she was floating in a ship and there were all of these icebergs, dangerous, and she was navigating around them which is exactly what I was doing as there were concentric bands of tension I’d previously spotted but never given so much attention. What is crazy is she left feeling the best she’s ever been and tipped so ridiculously I had to give a tithe to charity”.

See, there is no way in heck she could ever have forced this but what had happened was she had tapped in to point of vortex that she corrected the subtle energetics of via intent and relaxed focus then the rest of clients tension simply had to melt as the low water mark had risen. Along with it came the ship of her consciousness hence why hobbies are a form of spirituality, my friend. This is why I’ve said you need to have a passion. Something you enjoy so much just for the sake of doing it. If you haven’t got one yet, find one. You’ll never really know till you give it a spin as there was a gent, rather basic, who discovered mad skills in the world of linguistics which totally surprised him as he barely ever read. I’d asked him to recollect, back when, something he enjoyed doing and he said, super quick, the wordsearch from the comics. He mentioned how he’d save it till the end after checking all of the rest and even that was of interest as he mostly clocked the pics for the story that they’d tell but he’d pore over the details of how and why it was inked like this. “The wordsearch repped a challenge”. He got back into this and picked up some modern versions and as he was doing this he discovered his embers of Inner Sense were starting to glow again as he found what they said and wondered:

“What does that mean then?”.

Next step was getting a dictionary so he had a quick ref. I advised him that each one he learns he should use thrice in a conversation that day to increase his neuroplastic ways ergo he’d find interesting ways to do just this and the results were often quite humorous. Anyway, what kicked was he discovered an immense passion for words, their meaning and communication and this built a bridge to other parts of his consciousness as he couldn’t help but wondering what caused him to quit. As usual he got into the zone with his wordsearching and, when it felt correct, he closed his eyes, reclined a bit and Journeyed into his consciousness with the request:

“Take me to the last time I enjoyed doing this” and found an entire sequence of events, previously repressed, which are none of your business. I simply shared this to show how the basic form is identical as you take something outside that narrows your field, wait until this state feels really real then shift the focus within. There are some obstacles, however, as many are so unused to this level of relaxation that they will, initially, fall asleep and start dreaming hence why I recommended a Guarana mixed with L Theanine for that relaxed awareness thing. Most do not need it but I mentioned it as it can help. Basically, we are learning to shift gears in consciousness and that is all true spirituality is. Some get there by repeating a sacred mantra for hours on end, others sit crossed legged whilst trying to think of nothing. Warriors do what makes them grin, hone the process then flip the script and map their inner realms. See, the most excellent thing about it is that because you were already doing something active it doesn’t disturb the tranquil as it was also present when you shift octaves. As the Witness is already engaged with one thing its easy to shift its locus and then direct with the same intent, wherever you wish. This is why I’ve said that meditation is a fail as most of the methods are taught wrong and make people feel bad about themselves as they can’t silence that voice in their head or sit still for a minute without stress. The Journey, on the flip, is so effortless and natural that everyone who gives its a spin attests it is effective. Better yet, many of them develop their own extension on this basic resonance as the massage therapist started seeing auric patterns that need attention whilst the radio guy developed a cool skill in which he could simply think of a frequency and tune the dial without looking. The searcher of words, last I checked, was learning another language and had been training himself, indirect, by doing tests in that script to get familiar with the symbols which he was then (using a translating dictionary) repeating three times hence but by now people were used to this oddness and simply requesting “So what does that mean then?“. Made for some interesting conversations so I hope this inspires something within to go and develop a hobby, my friend, as that is the simplest way to up to your res and start mapping your consciousness. At least, as far as I can tell.

Till we meet again
